B.B. King from Indianola to Icon

B.B. King from Indianola to Icon Exhibition: A Photographic Journey by Charlie Sawyer
On Display in the Kimball Jenkins Mansion, January 13 – February 17

Start the new year right with a foray through the chronological and personal documentation of Riley B. King as presented by photographer Charlie Sawyer and partner in crime Cherie Hoyt. This show has more than 60 photographs of the American monolith who is considered one of the most important guitarists of all time; a highly regarded figure in blues music from the 20th and early 21st Century. Charlie Sawyer, a Concord, NH native, is often referenced in biographical content about B.B. as a result of his close friendship and authorized biographies and photo-stories released with permission from the estate and B.B. himself.

The Concord Historic Society will be featuring a talk by Charlie Sawyer on February 9th with a performance by Charlie’s band, 2120 S Michigan Ave from 7pm-9pm. Both of these events will take place on the grounds of Kimball Jenkins at 266 N. Main St. in Concord.

The exhibition will run from January 5th to February 27th, 2023, allowing for original prints to be purchased either outright or through payments. Kimball Jenkins will be hosting a reception on Friday, January 13th from 5:30-7:30 with a mini-Q&A lead by Yasamin Safarzadeh featuring Charlie Sawyer himself! Live music and refreshments will be available to those in attendance.

Kimball Jenkins is a nonprofit community cultural center amplifying diverse perspectives and traditionally marginalized voices through the arts and history. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Kimball Jenkins’ mission is to cultivate creativity, make arts education accessible, and honor historic preservation.
