New Weekly Themes in 2024!

Every summer Kimball Jenkins welcomes hundreds of youth ages 6 - 17 to our campus for an arts and history-based day camp. With eight weeks of themed activities, participants will activate their creativity and imaginations. A typical week includes a variety of artistic media, time outdoors, collaborating in group activities, and learning about history. Campers will explore sculpture, painting, clay, printmaking, drawing, and more. Activities are designed to be age appropriate and include both collaborative group work and individual focus. Campers are placed in groups based on their age, and all campers should plan on spending time outdoors.

Need to cancel? All camp registration fees will be refunded if notified at least two weeks prior to the week you have registered for, minus $30 to cover payment processing and administration fees.

No refunds will be given within 2 weeks of camp starting, with the exception of a medical event preventing participation. A physician’s note will be requested.

Leader in Training Program: We invite teens who are ages 14-17, and who have attended at least 1 week of camp as a camper, to then serve as a LIT (Leader in Training) with our younger campers. We have four spots available for LITs during each summer camp week.

LITs are expected to stay for the full day of camp and assist the Counselors with prepping supplies, arts activities, water games, and more. There is no registration cost for LITs and hours can be counted toward community service.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Campers will arrive between 8:30-9:00am and have independent time to draw and hang with friends until 9:00am when camp officially starts. We will then have outdoor all-camp activities which often involve field games on the lower lawn.

Each morning there will be an art project related to the weekly themes. Younger groups will engage in multiple smaller projects, and older groups will have a combination of small short term projects and longer week-long projects. Campers will make 2D and 3D work during each themed week.

A snack break will be given mid-morning. All age groups will have lunch outside when there is good weather, and a second all-camp field game will be held after lunch.

In the afternoon, campers will have another art making session that may include visiting the historic mansion, learning from guest artists, or doing collaborative work. Projects will end by 3:30pm with outdoor games and free time held between 3:30-4:00pm, when camp officially closes for the day.

All campers not registered for extended care will need to be picked up between 3:30-4:00pm. Any campers registered for extended care between 4:00-5:00pm will be able to have independent time to draw, play outdoor games with Counselors or work on projects.

On Friday of each week, parents will be invited to attend an art show, where everyone can walk through all the group spaces viewing work made throughout the week, at pick up time.

  • Your child should wear clothes they don't mind getting dirty. On hot days we will alert families if we anticipate water activities where campers might get wet, and it would be advised to pack a towel, and a spare set of clothes. Campers should apply sunscreen before arriving at camp. Counselors will have spray sunscreen readily available if needed. Campers are encouraged to have their own sunscreen packed in their bag.

  • Yes! All campers and LITs should bring a bag lunch (non-refrigerated), water bottle, sunscreen and any medication they might need. Medication will be checked in at the sign-in tent upon arriving to camp each day.

  • If you know in advance that your child will not be able to attend the closing art show Friday afternoon, we can make arrangements to have all work ready to be taken home on the last day your child attends camp. We will hold all artwork for up to 2 weeks after each week. Parents will need to make arrangements for a time to come pick up the artwork in person with the Camp Director at summercamp@kimballjenkins.com

  • Kimball Jenkins offers extended camp supervision from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, for an additional $25 a week or $5 per day. Due to staffing, we do not offer after-care activities past 5:00PM. Registration for late pick up extended care should happen before the start of the week.

  • Kimball Jenkins cultivates an inclusive educational environment that embraces diverse identities, perspectives, and backgrounds. At camp, your child will be asked to identify their preferred pronouns, and camp staff will utilize what preferences are indicated by the camper. We do not tolerate bullying, harmful language, or violence by anyone on our campus, especially as it relates to personal preferences on identity, gender expression, or physical safety. We also do not allow campers to create images of guns, and will kindly ask campers to create other imagery. Any incidents of bullying or violence will be documented in writing for the parents of all campers involved. After two incidents requiring written documentation of harmful behavior, parents will be requested to meet with camp staff in person before the camper returns to regular activity. In the event that a camper is requested to not return to camp due to behavioral challenges, no refunds will be given.

  • Registration must be done online on our website. For assistance registering your camper(s) online, contact us at connect@kimballjenkins.com

  • All campers should plan on spending time outdoors everyday unless there are thunderstorms or other severe weather forecasted. Please dress your camper appropriately for the weather. Campers whose groups regularly meet in the tent, will continue to meet in the tent even on rainy days unless thunderstorms or other severe weather is forecasted. On especially hot or sunny days, campers will have the option to participate in water activities, including using the hose, sprinklers, and squirt guns. All campers will spend some time outdoors and in air-conditioned spaces on very hot and sunny days.

  • Kimball Jenkins follows the CDC recommendations on preventing the spread of COVID 19 and other infectious diseases. At this time, masks are not required on campus unless Merrimack County is advised to do so. Please do not send your child to camp if they are sick or exhibiting symptoms. In the event your child contracts COVID, please inform the Camp Director summercamp@kimballjenkins.com ASAP. Kimball Jenkins will notify close contacts if we become aware of a COVID exposure while at camp. At this time, the CDC recommends for close contacts and those who may have potentially be exposed to COVID to complete a COVID test only if symptoms become present. Campers that contract COVID prior to camp starting, and are unable to attend camp, should contact connect@kimballjenkins.com
